TRACK UPDATE December 2010 - High water levels in the Lerderderg River have severely damaged low-lying sections of the walking track. Until these sections are repaired, the track near the river is not suitable for use by the general public.
=====================================================
Federation Walk is a serious contender for "best walking/cycling track in Bacchus Marsh" - certainly it is the number one track in Darley. The walk circumnavigates a section of the Lerderderg River right on the edge of town.
The track profile is a flat, good surface. Track facilities include car parking, toilets and picnic tables. It's ideal for young families looking to get out into the fresh air.

The track provides a mix of river views, historical items, a small park and an avenue of native flowering gums.
Take your own picnic lunch, or visit the food outlets next to the road bridge. Great food and good coffee. If you're arriving by car, there's shaded parking on the eats side of the river
Just one special cautionary note - a full circuit of this track requires a crossing of busy Gisborne Road. There are traffic lights at Holts Lane to assist the crossing, but stay alert if your party includes youngsters and pets.
This walking track starts near the bridge over the Lerderderg River in Gisborne Road and follows the river downstream to Holts Lane. The track returns to the starting point along Gisborne Road. [Walker's Map ref. E3]
The tracks can be accessed by walking or cycling from Main Street. There is some car parking available near the starting point and off Lerderderg Park Road on the other side of the bridge (and river).
