The Ellerslie Circuit is typified by quiet streets, greenways and river views. The Circuit takes its name from the Ellersie Homestead around which it passes.
Start off at the Grant Street bridge in Bacchus Marsh. Head east along the south bank of the Werribee River. The path provides pleasant river views as you walk between houses and the river.
You'll arrive at Boyes Close (formerly known as Bond Street) and cross over the river using the new shared pedestrian/cyclist bridge recently constructed for Moorabool Shire Council.
The sturdy bridge provides safe passage to the north bank of the Werribee. Note the River Redgums near the river. Once across the river head east again along the pathway.
There are houses on your left but the greenway has plenty of space and you won't feel crowded in.
The path forks a bit further on - one path leads to Fisken Street, the other heads north between the houses and that's the one for you.
In a little while you'll arrive at McGrath Street. Look to the left and you'll see Ellerslie Homestead, now operating as a Bed & Breakfast.
Check for traffic and then cross McGrath Street. Keep heading north.
You'll emerge from the trees and see Bald Hill rising over the houses in front of you.
Turn to the left at this point and cross a vacant block. The path runs from a break in the fence across to the south-west corner of the block.
You'll arrive at the east end of Pilmer Street. To your left will be the rear entrance to Ellerslie.
Proceed to the right down Pilmer Street - there's a footpath on the south side of the street that will take you to Graham Street.
Turn left at the intersection and you're heading south in Graham Street towards the river.
Enter the greenway near the river and turn right. The path brings you to the Grant Street bridge, your starting point.
